Ask the Prime Minister to waive visas for Ukrainians

No one can fail to be moved by the situation faced by people in Ukraine. As we watch it unfold on our television screens or on social media we can’t help but be horrified by what we are seeing.

But we need to do more. Anyone seeking refuge because of war should be given support. The UK should be a place they can turn to if they need somewhere safe to get shelter. The people of Ukraine need our help today. As it has previously done in times of war, the UK government must offer a safe haven for those who need it. That means waiving the normal visa process and offering a warm welcome to people already traumatised by conflict.

Ukrainians are in the thoughts and prayers of people across Scotland. As we watch families trying to flee from danger, we need not only to open our hearts, but to welcome them into the UK.

Join SCIAF and Justice and Peace Scotland in calling the government to act and ask the Prime Minister to waive visas for Ukrainian refugees, ensuring those who have been forced from their homes are able to reach safety.
